Am I Cool Yet?

Saturday:

On this particular Saturday the most exciting part of the day was the night. But before I get to that, I have to talk about the second most exciting part of the day: buying a 10 euro submersion blender. I have wanted to make smoothies, sauces and what not for the longest time! As you all know the Magic Bullet was a bust and I wasn't able to find a blender and a resale electronic store, so I resigned to buying a blender from our local French "Walmart".  I'm looking at all the full blender options in the cooking utilities isle and guess what I stumbled upon? You got it. The most beautiful piece of equipment for the affordable price of 10 euros! My little blender has two speeds and works like magic. It might have been the best 10 euros I have ever spent..zero regrets, might go back for the 10 euro food processor...but I'm sure you are already sick of hearing about it so onto the night!

Stephanie, the girl whose house we all went over to and watched a movie with, was turning 21!! The big 2.1. The most anticipated birthday of them all!! Yes! Oh wait. We are in France. She has been able to drink legally since she was 18. Turning 21 means nothing here. Well. There goes that excitement. But still! A birthday party is always fun nonetheless, and this particular birthday party was a FRENCH birthday party. How exciting.

Because our friend Hunter is a loser and doesn't have Facebook, communication is difficult. He got the memo about the party but not about wearing crappy clothes. You see, Stephanie warned us that there was going to be paint at this party. Therefore we all assumed that we should wear less than average clothing. We all met up and informed Hunter about the paint and he went to change. After that Lyndsie, Hunter, Hannah and I made our ways to our friends house. We were actually 45 minutes late...which I HATE. I can't stand being late, but I guess it was okay because by French standards we were practically on time. We arrived and immediately noticed that everyone was dressed to kill and here were 4 Americans strolling in with out baggy shirts and workout bottoms. We were such a cliche. But this didn't deter us! We all went to making friends, dancing, playing games and more! I really loved how there was a makeshift beer bong table...so American; made me smile. We meet some really awesome people and I had a great time. Lots of laughing, lots of bonding, it was such a great night!

Stephanie's mom made the most incredible assortment of food. Cupcakes, cookies, dips, pastries, dinner finger-food and this beautiful homemade cake!

Just hanging out

As the party was ending we decided to head home because we had to walk back and it was already around 1 am. Our hostess and her friend Sophia (super nice Hungarian girl) were not okay with this. Getting out the door was near impossible! But they were super sweet and just wanted to hang out longer but we sucked and ended up leaving anyways.

For anyone who is curious, as I stated on Friday, we went birthday shopping for our friend and ended up getting her an international cake cooking book. She loves to bake and we are intentional students so it made sense. We also bought her three cute mugs to put herbs in for her other cooking adventures. However potable herbs are hard to come by here so we told Stephanie that we have a Part II of her gift and the only way she will get it is if she hangs out with us again. Friend blackmail. Works every time, kids.

Sunday:

This day consisted of family brunch and dinner, running and the most beautiful sunset! My pictures don't do it justice. It's hard to capture the whole sky on one phone!
